Tasting Table sent out a highlight of a remarkable, or so they say, sandwich from Rye (247 S. First St. (between Roebling and Havemeyer sts.), Brooklyn). Now I’m pretty skeptical of this kind of product placement, usually it’s the work of PR firms and secret industry hand-shakes, but this one caught my eye/stomach:
The glorious, two-handed sandwich comprises a half-pound tablet of ground pork, veal and duck cooked in its own reduced braising juices and planted between a chewy, crusty roll. Golden haystack onions spill out atop the meat loaf, while a layer of horseradish-dressed frisée packs serious zip, and briny, thin-sliced pickles temper the opulence.
I want that in my mouth, don’t you?

Hey, Ben. While we appreciate healthy skepticism, I just want to chime in here and tell you that Tasting Table produces all of our editorial from the gut. Though we get many, many PR announcements a week (and they are helpful to see what’s up in the business), we test everything and are ourselves skeptical about anything being pitched to us. We test everything we write about before publishing, and unless the content clearly says “SPONSORED” above it, you’re enjoying pure Tasting Table editorial. Thanks for covering us!

Hey Geoff,
That’s great to hear! Those PR announcements and offers for ‘arraignments’ are creepy and quickly suck away credibility. Keep up the sandwich spotlights!
