			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People use the term &#8216;sandwich&#8217; loosely and I often get confused when something <em>is</em> a sandwich and when something <em>isn&#8217;t</em> a sandwich. For example, are burrito&#8217;s sandwiches? What about hot dogs? What about if you jam some &#8220;jambon&#8221; into a &#8220;baguette&#8221;? What about a dumpling with a hole in it? These questions were troubling me one night so I drafted this taxonomy of the different foods based on their topology, just to draw some lines and make the words more precise.</p>
<p>It starts with regular sandwiches in the middle. To the left we see what happens when sides are connected and to the right the wrapping is removed entirely. While I enjoy the whole spectrum, it&#8217;s the &#8220;sandwiches&#8221; that get my love.</p>
